Injectable treatments for the face are a great way to effectively reduce wrinkles and sagging of aging skin over 40. It doesn't require surgery and usually only takes about 15 - 30 minutes. The treatments, depending on which product you go with, can last from 6 months to up to 2 years. The pain is minimal and the treatment is usually immediately noticable although some treatments can take longer to see a difference. Below are some of the most popular options for facial injections:
1. Botox: Simply put, Botox injections work. Botox cost can range anywhere from $100 - $1000 depending on the amount of treatment and where you go. Botox treats face wrinkles that is caused by repeated muscle movements. The most popular injection sites for botox are outer eye corners (crows feet), forehead between the eyes, forehead, sides of mouth to lessen the look of a frown, neck and cheek area. This treatment last from about four to six months. Most people choose to have botox treatments 2 -3 times a year.
2. Juvederm: Is a hyaluronic acid filler. Juvederm is great for decreasing fine lines, plumping lips or any facial area that is hollow such as under the eyes. It is a smooth gel filler which gives it a more natural feeling. It also claims to work longer than any other HA injectable filler, with results lasting up to 6 months to a year. Juvederm cost is around $450 - $850, I've found Surgiderm is slightly cheaper but basically the same product. Similar Product: Surgiderm
3. Restylane: Is another hyaluronic acid injectable, and it has some advantages over other treatments. First of all, HA is a safer and easier to use product than some other injectables because it carries less risk of an allergic reaction since hyaluronic acid is found naturally in our bodies. Restylane is a "dermal filler." Unlike Botox, which smoothes out wrinkles, it is used to fill out facial features. Restylane because tends to cohere, stays where it is injected therefore it needs to be "molded" into shape to form the desired look. This is an advantage over Juvederm which cannot be built up. On the other hand Restylane can form lumps so it must be shaped properly into place. This product is great for plumping the lips and filling in cheeks.
4. Radiesse: Radiesse, another dermal filler, is best for the jaw line, chinm nasolabial folds and can also help scars. The nice thing about Radiesse is it helps the body to produce more collage. The price of Radiesse injectable can vary widely from $450 to $2,500 and can typically last from 1 year to 18 months. Similar Product: Sculptra
No matter what type of injectable facial treatment you choose, you'll likely be very glad you did it. With the many products available today it's easy to look younger by erasing wrinkles and sagging skin without surgery.
